Is the barbershop a trend or a permanent classic?

Is the barbershop a trend or a permanent classic?

Is the barbershop a trend or a permanent classic?

The culture and the habit are formed gradually. But if it has already taken root - it is an irreversible process. People went to barbers 300 years ago, get their hair cut now and will do it in another 300 years. It's just that wooden chairs have been replaced by leather chairs, hairdryers, trimmers and shavers have appeared, and instead of a painted pole, guests are now greeted by a stylish barberpool.

A haircut can be a true art form and a means of expressing both the barber's skill and the client's appearance. Of course, a barbershop can succumb to the trends of fashion, and expand the range of services, for example. But the culture itself will remain the same. Men love style. There are many reasons that have contributed to the resurgence of the hair and beard care industry. Among them is the emergence of a number of professional products aimed specifically at men, as well as the growing interest of men themselves in self-care every year. We can say that we are witnessing a kind of renaissance of the whole culture. In addition, the approach, the process itself, is changing. The barbershops that are now springing up all over the country are not the same barbershops that our parents may remember from Soviet times. Men now get a much broader range of high-end services, and they also have the opportunity to treat themselves to coffee or something stronger, feeling like they're part of something bigger than just a barbershop. There is a demand for austerity, brutality and masculinity - barbershops satisfy it.

Let's repeat: men love beautiful style, and it's not just about hair. Note the evolution of barbershop interior design: increasingly rare is the "sterile" design with white walls and simple black chairs lined up along the walls. Instead, more and more often we see entire art spaces with a more vintage or loft-like atmosphere, like Mr.Colt at 24 Zolotoustivska Street.

Modern barbershops are striving to redefine "men's barbershop," filling these once gloomy spaces with new meanings and service. It's hard to find a place that doesn't have comfortable couches, cool drinks and a way to pass the time with a video game console or a game of kicker. Some establishments even go further and open their own schools. Again, we are no exception. Today, the barbershop has become the norm. And we see no obstacles to it becoming more and more commonplace. So answering the question in the title, let's just say that this is a trend that is gradually becoming a “permanent classic”.
